Dear Friend in Christ,
"When Jesus was born in Bethlehem...in the days of King Herod...magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem saying, 'Where is the newborn king?... We saw his star rising and have come to do him homage.'" (Matt. 2:1,2) NAB
Matthew writes how Herod was perturbed by this breaking news report. Herod then lied and told the wise men to find out where the new king was and bring back word so he also could give homage. The magi left and the star appeared again, preceding them until it came and stopped over the place where the child was.
Do you think Herod saw the star? Did his murderous agenda and selfish ambition blind him from the star's spiritual brilliance? In stark contrast, the wise ones personally sought after the newborn king. Their agenda was motivated purely by the desire to worship Jesus and bestow an offering of valuable gifts.
The Christmas star still supernaturally shines upon open hearts. Its’ spiritual brilliance reveals God's gift of salvation in Jesus. The ministry of SCRC faithfully continues for more than six decades to make known the transforming power of Jesus Christ, while also working to help restore the Holy Spirit's gifts and graces to the entire Church.
